Other than grouse, what sort of game can one expect in such an area?

Not much game is found up above the tree line. We sometimes spot a hare every now and then, and occasionally reindeer pass through the area.

There is one other animal that is quite commonly seen, although the population varies from year to year: the Lemming! A large caliber double rifle is the recommended weapon of defense against these feared and ferocious creatures.

Actually, the lemming is an important (and easy) food source for predatory birds, that otherwise eat young grouse. So years with lots of lemmings generally mean that the grouse population will be good, as more of them survive.
