Actually, I had no time to see the horns and shot fast, under pressure of my PH who was anxious to see the Chamois covering those few meters and disappear in the bushes. Then, the PH started smoking the traditional "waiting cigarette", then a second one and even lighted a third one, teasing me all the time about the small horns of the "young" Chamois I just shot. I remained ice cool, not wanting to give in to his teasing but was boiling inside to rush to the place where the animal fell. So, I told Herr Unterberger that 1 cigarette was OK as far as tradition had to be respected, 2 cigarettes were overkill IMHO, but 3 cigarettes would not only pose a definite hasard to his health but in the meantime my Chamois might start to rot... We ended up laughing and started the climb, where he beat me by far and was first to arrive, being at least as anxious to see the beast.
