Hello Max, late to the party, but I didnīt see the post before... First: there are some hunting providers in Germany who offer a range of options, but I do not have any experience with these, so beware! - hunting during nighttime, which normally needs a hunting guide who assists in the selection of the right animal, and for example rejects the shot on a sow and releases only piglets or medium age pigs - a driven boar hunt with more guests and during daytime (sometimes more like a social event), normaly from a stationary site like a hochsitz or driven-hunt sitz. There are safety and game release instructions given before the hunt. There might be piglets and foxes free, but for trophy animals (like a 100kg boar) there will be most likely a fee, and hefty fees if you shoot the wrong (mother) animal before all youths are collected In Germany you are able to bring your own rifle (import and on leaving, an export permit is necessary!), but you have to announce the hunt at the relevant authorities. You have to provide a clean criminal background, an official hunting invitation and maybe some paperwork that you are a hunting club member and or familiar with weapons handling in your home state. Then you can apply for a foreign guest hunting license, which is normally valid for 14 days and restricted to the hunting invitation. Normally the outfitter company will assist (for a charge, of course) in the necessary paperwork. Weapons permit, hunting license and hotel/guest house are normally not included in the fee for the hunting itself. I think for the first time hunting in Germany it would be easier to have a loan gun/rifle. Blaser R93 or R8 are fairly common in Germany, and especially for a night boar hunt the optics are very good, sometimes even night vision in addition to and mounted in front of the telescopic sight are available, if you want to hunt trophy boars. Night sight AIMING devices (one device) are not allowed. best regards Rolf PS: beware of a tradition: after you collected the 150kg luxus trophy boar, every one in the bar will make a toast to you with a loud WAIDMANNSHEIL and the shot glass in the left hand! Reason: if you answer the toast with the glass in the RIGHT hand, you are required to buy every left-hand-glass guest another schnaps... |
