With one of them it was hiding underneath a log so I shot it in the back a couple of times which brought the dog in to see what the excitement was about. He came running in and when told to keep away, lay down, right on the tail of the snake. A quick yank on his collar (and neck) and he was out the way. Now the head of the snake was out facing its tail and a 40 gr HP ending its days.
