I've shot a couple of rabbits with the 17HMR - interesting performance. Head shot - just a tiny entry wound. On the other I noticed it had two front legs on the right and none on the left. Seems the pressure effect on hitting the shoulder sucked the whole leg into the chest area and out the other side. Wish I'd taken a photo. Not sure I'd be happy about taking anything but the most carefully placed head shot on a fox. The performance is nothing like the 17Rem - my favourite still day rabbit cartridge - but the 17HMR is very quiet. My 17HMR is a Ruger and shoots well under MOA. Toblers fitted a second 22WMRF barrel (which is not as accurate) and bedded the action. mike |
