TKS, Sville. Your moose appear about the same size as similar aged Shiras Moose in Montana and Idaho. They are only a bit smaller than ours, but we do get some giants at times.
The last moose I shot was a yearling bull calf with hair covered knobs on his head. He dressed out at 225 pounds without the lower legs or head. Decent for a calf as even our 2 year olds are dressing out at over 350 pounds now, closer to 400 for some.
We have had a limited entry hunt for mature moose, since 1979 - very few big bulls are shot. This takes the pressure off them so the best can breed. This has resulted in an increase in quality of the gene pool, and our 2 year old spikes and 2 pointers(each side) are very rare indeed. Most two year olds have small palms now with up to 7 and 8 points per side. They and the calves grow up quickly.
