In most ethical hunting circles, the shooter with the red band around his hat would be fined and sent home on the spot. Shooting the biggest pig out of a band is a capital error ! It will always be a nursing sow (large boars are always solitary) and most likely the leading one. Not only will there be a orphaned litter condemned to die and a disorganized band left to ravage crops. Great hunting feat indeed, killing a mother and 8 pigglets with the same bullet... Ethically, only small or yearling boars are taken out of a band. The (accidental) on the run shooting of a big sow is only accepted if she ran alone and was mistaken for a boar (this may happen when companies have been disbanded by the hounds).
In my corner of the woods, such a disrespectful "hunter" would be fined 40 € per kg exceeding 60 kg (dressed weight) for his 1st "mistake". And, for a subsequent offense, he would be fined the same and asked to leave...
