Re: video of Moufflon hunting

Hi Erik

Seems like you are "turning the knife in the wound".
Legally, it's illegal to shoot beyond 300m. Officially in Gap, a state owned territory, you have to approach game under 300m to be allowed to shoot. As far as you don't bring a rangefinder along, the PH cannot accurately tell whether you're bending the rules or not .
The bottom line being that chamois aren't as smart as moufflon, add that the chamois is left safe for a couple of years until it grows appealling horns, most of the chamois are almost acting like pets, especially the old males which have seen umpteenth hunters letting them on their own unscathed. The very day it's fate is sealed, he often stares at you, letting you come close enough (100-200m) as he grew without being molested years after years during about 10 years.
Not so with moufflon which are more numerous and are culled on a regular basis. It results that the largest males are really smart and can detect a hunter from very far......6 km is a cinch for an old sheep.
You'll see next year if you dare to compete with us???
