Stefan Interesting. Would love to attend but obviously Australia is too far away. I'm sure some of our European members and readers would be interested. Especially as Heym firearms can also be borrowed for the shoot and tried out. Well done. |

Some interesting speakers who would be interesting to listen to. I'm sure Mark Sullivan will get some other forum's posters worked up as his name always does. However there is no doubt he is a great double rifle shot, in the heat of the moment. Does anyone need more proof of that? Nice lion in the photo too. I would not say no to trying out the .577z NE "Jumbo" Heym double of his. Hopefully you have some charging hippo, ele or buff targets for it. Peter Dafner will give a different perspective I guess with his buffalo experience. Quote: Our Euro based members should note the above. Thanks for the generous offer to NE's members. |

For the final I send you an letter of an PH from America, who comes to the competition. Jaguarhunter, Thanks for posting-up some of the photos from the 2012 Heym Challenge and the factory tour/seminar day. The event was extremely well done and enjoyed by all who attended! The shooting event was great fun but also offered serious competition for those who attended for that purpose. Anton’s range is a state-of-the-art indoor range. It was a pleasure to shoot in the facility. The shooting event allowed participants to use the wonderful rifles manufactured by Heym instead of bringing our own rifles if we chose to do so. This was the first opportunity for me to shoot your double rifles and I found them to be exceptional. All of the shooting stations were great and the balloon speed shooting station was very exciting. The .577 event was also great fun and offered those who were interested the opportunity to shoot Mark’s newly manufactured Heym Jumbo .577 NE. There were a few wide-eyed participants after they pressed the triggers but everyone had a great time. The newly designed stock dimensions developed for this rifle are fantastic! Dave from Kynoch deserves special thanks regarding the ammunition for this component of the event. All of your sponsors were helpful and interesting. Roland from Jagdzeit was very gracious. He offered to show us around his neck of the woods (Melsungen) in Germany later in the week and we had a great time together. We had an opportunity to view your native game and had a delicious Hirsch meal. Another wonderful aspect of the Heym event was the opportunity to interact with a very diverse group of people from around the world and make many new friends. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality extended by Thomas, Manfred, you, Rico, Stefan, and all the employees at Heym. It was also a pleasure to spend time with Chris from Heym USA. I greatly appreciated the personal attention provided by Rico during the factory tour and also the opportunity to shoot in the rifle regulation area. It offered me the chance to handle and shoot Heym rifles I had never shot previously. Being able to personally meet with Master Engraver Michael Richter and view his work was an unexpected bonus. The Hotel and Restaurant Zum Hirsch offered a fantastic place to stay. The owner Rolf, his wonderful wife Gabi, and daughter Nicole were fantastic hosts. Rolf was hauling me around the forests of Germany to pick Bärlauch and Schnittlauch! He also took us to see many wonderful sights near Römhild. We came as guests but we left as friends and are looking forward to visiting with them again soon. I gained about 7 pounds enjoying Gabi’s Thuringian cooking, the hand churned butter, homemade bratwurst, and also the great homemade beers. The executive staff and workers at Heym did a great job with this event. My wife and I are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon. Thanks for making us feel welcome and part of the Heym family. If this event is any example, anyone considering attending the next Heym event will have a great time. That looks like too much fun! Thanks for the photos! I've only had two shots out of a double .577NE, an English one whose name I can't recall, and thoroughly enjoyed it! Mark certainly knows how to hunt and shoot, that's for sure. Does anybody know if he is still guiding? Also, where can a fellow get targets like those? Cheers, Ben |
Quote: Ben regarding the targets, while not the same check out the Big Game International Shoot targets on this thread - International Big Game Rifle Shoot South Africa 1 Sept 2012. These targets are available I believe through BASA in South Africa. In addition I have some also from South Africa, only 500 targets or so on hand , I will put a selection together for you and post some to you. The ones used by Heym are a bit different, so maybe someone else can advise if they are commercially available. Certainly the elephant one looks good value as I haven't seen that one before. |

John, that would be greatly appreciated! I'd be happy to cover costs, too. |

Does anybody know the starting price for one of their larger bolt action rifles? On the website, it lists prices for the doubles only. |

Quote: Daryl, Jaguarhunter is or was (?) a Heym man, works with the owner of Heym. Jaguar, I enjoyed that event. Did they hold any others since? The venue was fine as well.In Schweinfurt I think it was. In door rifle range, I think I shot a .450/400 double rifle. I did want to shoot a .577. Also an electronic movie range. The rifle had a laser pointer in a barrel, o shoot the charging elephant, buffalo and lions. I was always good on the elephant and buffalo. The lions usually ate me. Need more practice on live lions! How is Thomas going? Hope all is well at Heym? Don't here much from Heym these days. Must re-new the acquaintances. |

BTW I was saddened to hear about Rolf, the owner of the hotel I stayed out, died a year or two after the event. He was a nice friendly man, a fellow hunter. He took me out one night after boar. Siting in his converted horse trailer hochsitz. A bit noisy inside but portable. I don't speak much German, he didn't speak much English, but we still communicated. His whole family was lovely. I wanted to re-visit with them one day, and if the family still owns the hotel, might one day. |

Quote:Quote: Thank you. Yes, I work as an consultatnt. Yes, we had one with Ivan, two with Mark (everybody had meet him at the event, from that days I know, that he is not the "bad man", as many people wrote in the net), and then with Kai Uwe Denker (the famous, german-based elefant-hunter). We had different doubles. 450-400 was the smalest. :-) In the second from Mark we had also an .460 weatherby and .5ß5 and an 600 NE in an double. Everything is great. Best wishes from all to that great forum here. |
