I like the Rugers too, but I am also a fan of the classics, so I use a Colt Woodsman.
They are getting up there in pricing nowdays, so buy one soon if you decide to.
Also, much of the value on the woodsman seems to be based on original finish condition. Mine is a little worn along the barrel, but shoots wonderfully.
Browning Buckmarks are supposed to be nice, but I have never owned one.
Colt Ace .22 conversion for the 1911 is sweet too.
