In Australia we rarely need firearms for anti-personnel situations unless police or military, and there is virtually no 'civilian' urban carry. The vast majority of field-carry sidearms are registered for protection against feral stock and dangerous wildlife, or used in a pastoral context, and are generally revolvers. The reasons are simplicity, reliability in the field, more powerful chamberings, no need for high capacity, ease of shooting (including training), and safer carry. I can't see that changing here in the foreseeable future. |
