On Saturday I had a go at the handgun metal silhouette competition. 5 targets each at 25 metres, 50 m, 75 m and 100 metres. I expected to hit none! . Especially as the locking elevation screw of my rear sight lost itself a week ago. However after three shots at 25 m I worked out the elevation needed and hit the last two targets. Missed all the rest but believe the impacts were not wild or were reasonably close sometimes. Hard at 75 m and 100 m when the elevation required means the muzzle or front sight of the handgun completely obscures the target. Reportedly some guys use a different load for each range. Perfected to work spot on each range. Best result I think was 11/20. My first ever result was actually quite average. Most shooting in the range of 0 to 3 or 4. Glad I gave it a go. Will shoot it again. I will need to have a think about how to score better. First up fix that flipping rear sight! And more practice. |
