My go to in my socialist paradise is not of course a handgun ... a leatherman set of pliers, scissors, with a couple of fairly blunt (atm) knives. Carried legitimately as a pocket knife and pliers for all sorts of legitimate tasks. I do have to remove it and leave in the car if I remember.

Honestly, if we had concealed carry here. I wouldn't bother though. Have rarely felt the need, 99% of the time. When I have felt the need, as a couple of times in the outback, we have always had hunting firearms along.
