How many handguns do you carry? That was a question I got at the shop. At the time I was open carrying two 45LC 1873 clones with 3 1/2 barrels in a double western style shoulder holster. I also had a cut down 1860 with a cartridge conversion. I don that same or similar set up occasionally at the gun shop as demonstration to new buyers that they dont need a micro gun for concealment.

Youd be surprised how many folks think a G19 is too big to conceal. One of the other guys carries a M9 and two spare mags as his "regular rig". Now Im a huge Western carry guy but I dont open carry outside the shop. When things are bad (riots, elections, or just going outside me "Green Zone), I typically carry something a bit more modern and always at least one spare magazine.

When I was a Cop policy was that we couldnt carry a back up; but I knew a few who did during "bad Times" like the days following 911 and the Freddy Gray riots. Some guys carried a small handgun like a SeeCamp 32acp, in a shirt pocket or something bigger like a AR pistol in their briefcase. At the height of the riots I never left home without extra mags
