Those with food stains on their ties, buffoons the lot of them. All proper edumicated types know that when eating a right handed person flicks their tie over the left shoulder and a left handed person over their right shoulder. When meal is finished tie is lowered in to correct position to hide the food stains.

Today (as in for the last 40 + years) uniform ties have been "Clip Ons". Theres no need to flip, all they need to do is unclip. Youd think even the lazy types would be up to that, maybe even unbutton their collar, but sadly too many arent up to it.

Is it lazy or just lack of training OR not enough good beatings???

Well I attended in 1993 my first ever wine industry tasting day with a lovely silk tie and a pristine white shirt. The day involved tasting up to 180 wines, I did maybe about 130, taking a mouthfull, swirling it, and SPITTING it into a bucket. As the day goes on, your mouth gets number from the alcohol.

Our female winemaker at the end of the day said at the beginning she was sure my shirt and tie would be wine stained by the end of the day. It was not.

When spitting one did have to make it definite and positive. Sometimes because of six or more people spitting at the same bucket, filled with sawdust, one had to do it at a fair distance AND also dodge and avoid the other wine spits!

By the end of the day one had to also avoid dribbling.

The alcohol does build up even without swallowing. Numbness of mouth, lips, and palate.

A story of a silk tie, a white shirt and red wine spitting.
