I never understood the point of the .480 Ruger. I agree, probably to have the name. I have 2 Freedom Arms revolvers, a 6" .454 Casull with iron sights, and a 7 1/2" .475 Linebaugh with 2x Leupold in a 4 ring TSOB mount from SSK. Both are ported by MNP with dual traps, which helps to minimize muzzle jump a lot. They're both wonderful pieces of craftsmanship, extremely accurate, and fun to shoot. The .475, in particular, is really impressive. It will put 5 325gr Gold Dots in 2" at 100 yards, and shoots the 420gr LBT almost as well. It's a helluva deer, elk, moose, or anything gun. The best thing is that my wife surprised me with it. What a gal! I'm a Ruger fan as well, but there's no comparison to my wife's Blackhawk. The price point is the driver, here, I'm sure. A FA will now set you back 2 grand, which is twice what I paid for the Casull in 1994. |
