Yes mate, the registry had details on each and every firearm/handgun we had.
So we had to submit the individual handguns for valuation, by an independent valuer.
The Police kept the handguns, and we received a cheque....or two.

Whilst I had to hand in 5+ now banned handguns, the two I was most disappointed to have confiscated, was a Colt 1911, Tactical Elite in .45ACP and a S&W M25 revolver in .45 Colt. This particular revolver, was a cased 125th Anniversary model.
