10gr. Unique and 200gr Speer Flying Ashtray from a .45 Colt Derringer back in the 70's was enough for me. I would definitely NOT shoot that thing in .45/70. .410 shotload and soft factory .45Colt - OK. It's heavier and larger than the one I fired. I also refused to shoot one of those in .44 mag. One writer described the experience as: "Stand in front of a large oak desk. Raise your hand over your head, full stretch. Open your palm & spread your fingers as wide as you can - now - slam your hand down FLAT onto the table top as hard as you can - "POW!" - you just experienced one shot from a .44 mag Derringer." Not for me. Using round grips on my 4" m29 is more than enough. 2 1/2 finger hold on 21gr. W296 and 300gr. Truncated Cone commercial cast bullet is more than enough! It stings, each shot. .45/70 - no thanks. |
