Gentlemen, I tested some .45 ACP factory ammunition for velocity in an .45 Officer's ACP pistol. Test results were astonishing: Federal 230grs Hydra Shok had a velocity of 246 m/s (807 fps) and an energy of 460 Joules. And that from a 3.5" barrel! Precision was good and no malfunctions, stoppages etc. occured. (Chronograph was a BMC Mehl 18, approx. 4 meters in front of the muzzle) That would be a good defensive ammunition even for short barrels, but it had quite an muzzle flash. best regards Rolf |
