While plinking at the local R&G club range, a fellow and his wife showed up - with several pistols and revolvers. The one that got my attention was an 8", 8 1/2" or 8 3/8" or whatever it is, in .500 S&W Mag. I had the little round-butt grips on my 4" M29 and was running through some old ammo- AL7 loads with 275SWC at 1,210fps as well as some top end 300gr. FMJ's with H110 or W296(same thing), not only the web, but the palm as well. Those 300's were down-right stinging loads to shoot. I then fired a few rounds through the guy's .500 and by juniper, it kicked less than my .44. He said that would be the case, but until I fired it, I didn't believe him. Nice gun! Of course, with the standard square grips, the .44 is really easy shooting. |
