While I like the various double action S&W 10mm pistols (they made a bunch of them: 1006, 1066, 1076, 1026, 1046, 1086) the above statement is urban legend. Almost immediately after debuting the DE Colt figured out that the slide stop hole was vulnerable to cracking. So they turned the hole into a U-shaped groove and got rid of the area that would be stressed. End of problem.
