Quote: EXACTLY - not a difficult job, either. If wanting something more modern, for less than the cost of the 'new one', a person can pick up a used 12 bore side by side caplock, and build his own. Perhaps a week of evenings is all it takes to make the stock, another week for finishing and done. 12 bore Howdah! The hardwood dealers usually have good walnut 'shrots', 2 1/2" side, X about 15X15" for around $20.00 to @30.00 with good figure. Cheap Pedersoli, Navy Arms or Armi San Polo 12 bore - perhaps $100.00 to $300.00 for the used gun + the wood. All 'parts' are already there, whereas to buy a set of barrels, soldering ribs, good locks, triggers, trigger bar, trigger gaurd - about $1000.00 for parts or more. A double 12 (or 10) bore Howdah would be a worthwile addition to one's belt - for maurading wolves, both 2 and 4 legged. |
