Note the length of the nipple noses, which keep the hammers from curling over the fences. They are easily trimmed back such as these. Also a bit of file work behind the nipple seats can make the nipples 'stand proud' as they should be.
The reason for this modification is to make them look more pleasing to the eye, as the English pattern of nipple to hammer fit should be presented.
