I tried Federal Gold Match in my newly-acquired M-41 and it seems to run just fine. The point about the recoil spring may be important though. The M-41 has a match chamber, and the cartridge is forced in. I examined some bullets with a loupe before and after being chambered and it is clear that the lead is ever so slightly squeezed. However, no rifling marks were evident, as is the case with my Winchester M-51D.
