When the tail docking was introduced here I remember reading studies in Sweden where since it was introduced there, the incidence of hunting dogs with broken tails has gone up tremendously.
I have the same impression here when it comes to dog breeds that have traditionally had docked tails. Unlike our English Pointers slimmer/trimmer tails, many GSP's have tails the length and width of a small log. The momentum when they hit things running thru the bush is far greater than the slim tails on our dogs. I suspect it will take a very long time before this is changed thru selective breeding.
