forget pulling out dog books they mostly will take you to Barb Woodhouse ( walkies)type show people a must to stay away from John,you need to purchase a farm bred either mongrel or pure from a line of dogs that has hunt hunt hunt ingrained in their blood mate,these are the dogs that do the right stuff not those that come from a long line of pedigreed hunting dogs that have never been hunting but have only been bred for the temperament and configuration etc.thus neglecting what they orininated for.
My only GSP bitch i had came from an old line of working dogs and at (true mate) 8 weeks was on point on a bloody blowie on a duck turd in the duck yard.....i couldnt believe it myself when i saw her hahaha, you ask for more breeds mate,why bother? a foxy/whippet will do all you want,but even english bull (1/8th and 7/8th`s foxy will make another handy those less pace type of dog that will force through blackberries etc
Get the Vic Weekly Times and look up the Kennel classifieds for well known dog breeders also the NSW "the Land" N/paper and failing that my mate Ian colley has www.boardogs.com and there are plenty of fellas there that will come up with something .Oh yeah why is it another must to go to hunting dog breeders other than show dog breeders? Well any dog that dosent cut the mustard for hunting gets shot while show people simply pass them on in the pursuit of the $$$$$$ instead of culling them as they should,yeah of course they will argue with that but i do have an insight into both sides.
