Well being a German breed guy.. I have a Deutsch Drahthaar. I'd suggest that you have a look at the Kurzhaar. Which is the German Shorthair that still undergoes the testing under the JGHV system. That means that the parents have to pass hunting performance tests prior to being allowed to be bred. There is a real mess with the Kurzhaar and the GSP here in the US. Like any breed this isn't a gaurantee that you will get a good/great dog but it sure does improve your chances of it by getting proven and tested dogs as the parents.
