That "37" is rollmarked Ithaca 87, a gun the then-reorganized Ithaca company built for a few years. Same as the 37. Then the company died again and when reorganized brought out rollmarked 37's again. I've got 2, the 12 ga shown w/ the goose {wore out one buttstock and restocked it} and a newer 37 20 gauge I use for the pheasants. Had a long modified barrel chopped short and a brass bead added. No choke and it is a real killer up close and doesn't destroy birds. Heck, even I can hit with it! ETA: My son has two also. One a field gun he used when he shot on the U of I trap club and an old one his ex-girlfriend's uncle gave him. Best thing that ever came out of that relationship... LOL. |
