whats that? a retriever with the heart of a grizzly

you are maybe not in a real winged game area but dont you miss some kind of a pointer when on birds?
is the retriever looking for birds like such a specialist.
asking this because the retriever here in general is only a pet.

looks like flecktarn

amazing who this surplus stuff travel arround the world.

Ja, Flecktarn!

We have piles of the stuff. I bought boxes of it when the kids were young as equipping kids gets expensive and such surplus stuff is cheap. Turned out it is just about the best camo for our area as well.

The bird pictured in your post is a female pheasant. I have a permit and raise them from chicks and release them on my ranch here and we have the family out for shoots. We can shoot roosters or hens.

As for the retriever, yes, he works out in front and flushes then retrieves. You have to teach them to stay in gun range of course but they are great pheasant dogs and lots of folks use them for pheasant here. As well as for Daryl's "chickens"! He does well on them, too, but a guy has to be quick on the gun in the brush for grouse.

Funny thing, my buddy was a TERRIBLE swimmer when he was a pup, up till he was about a year old. Little by little he figured it out and loves water.
