This morning, I took my mixed pack for a walk through a couple of my neighbour's paddocks. One of my Jack Russell terriers is a ten year old bitch that I've only recently recovered after she went missing over 6 years ago. (That's another story) In this particular paddock is one of the first fox-earths that I put her onto, as a young dog of 12-18 months. She bolted a fox in fine style and then ragged it comprehensively after I'd rolled it with the Browning. As they do. ![]() To my memory, that is the only time that hs'e ever worked that particular den, yet when we were walking across the paddock, she left her habitual spot at my heels and made a beeline for that foxhole from nearly 100 yards away. Surprising creatures, dogs. Peter |
