Dog Memory.

This morning, I took my mixed pack for a walk through a couple of my neighbour's paddocks.

One of my Jack Russell terriers is a ten year old bitch that I've only recently recovered after she went missing over 6 years ago. (That's another story) In this particular paddock is one of the first fox-earths that I put her onto, as a young dog of 12-18 months. She bolted a fox in fine style and then ragged it comprehensively after I'd rolled it with the Browning. As they do.

To my memory, that is the only time that hs'e ever worked that particular den, yet when we were walking across the paddock, she left her habitual spot at my heels and made a beeline for that foxhole from nearly 100 yards away.

Surprising creatures, dogs.
