You have a beautiful dog. I would steady him to wing first (I think birds will be easier to work with) using a 20’ check cord and a standard choke collar. Teach him to heal, come when called and the important “Whoa” command. I dizzy pigeons or pen raised quail and place them for the dog to find while he is on the cord and correct accordingly. There are a lot of good books on the subject. Once he gets the idea that you are a team he should point whatever game you come across. I would never use a shock collar until I was sure the dog knew his commands was given one and he failed (looks at you and gives you the proverbial finger) to respond |
