20 or so years ago, before the barra licences and the Tourist promo's you could ctch barra on a hook with red or white (or a combination of) streamers or coloured rag etc, and old bushies told me that they used to knock the primer out of a .303 shell, run a wire through with a hook on the end and they worked very well, like a popper, I guess.
