The river or creek on my farm used to have hundreds of yabbies. As it's now dry, none of course now. But they disappeared before it went dry.

My bush block had a running stream, but poachers killed off all the yabbies. Now that creek is dry as well.

Some dams have yabbies but again over catching is a threat.

I never liked the muddy flavour of yabbies.

But I believe putting live ones in clean fresh water removes the muddiness.

Our yabbies were maybe four or five inches long at most.
