You have to deliberately leave your leg in the Giant Clam for it to be caught. They close up relatively fast- 1 to 2 second until their lips are about 20 to 25 cm apart. Then it takes some doing to get them to close any further. If they do it is very slow closing. Least ways this is with all the Giant Clams I have come across.
