A year has passed already. It was a fun short trip, and my camera decided to malfunction when I went deep sea fishing out of Ocean Sports in Watamu. Although I didn't catch a marlin, I did catch sailfish, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, dorado, and Spanish mackerel. In the village of Faza, on Pate Island, in Lamu, I went out with the locals in a dhow and fished with a net (with a gauge that was too small IMO), then went out another day and fished with a hand line. I was the only white man on the island, save the albino. I didn't make it down to the Pemba channel, but would make sure I got there if I go again. I do have pics and video on a card, I just need to download and sort them. If anyone is thinking of heading out that way to go fishing, send me a PM for more details. Pics to follow. |
