Did a charter out of Perth a while back with a mate Arron. We had both seen a tv show on the sambos, and it looked unreal. Had a good day using 35kg jig sticks mid range shimano spin reels and 70kg braide, with 450 gm knife jigs. 120m of water and as fast as you could wind / jig . about 20-30 m of the bottom sudden stop and a fight for 20 min to get them to the boat.
5 to 7 hook ups every drop. Tax man took a few a white about 10 foot. worth the trip just to see the white.
All fish released by a weight attached to their mouth and dropped over when at depth weight released. By pulling the drop weight free.
These fish live up to their reputation.
Biggest caught was 43kg, average fish was 28kg to 30kg.
