Re: Northern Pike

Dan, thanks for posting these photos for me.

Those look real yummy Mike!!!

First trophy of the trip - 41". The fish are only handled by the guides so as to minimize stress and damage to the fish. All fishing is catch and release except for those used for shore lunches, and barbless hooks must be used.

A 41 1/2" trophy.

Another 41" Northern Pike.

The business end of a trophy northern.

44 1/2 inches long and 32 pounds. What a hog!

The biggest pike of the trip - 45 inches. A pike this big from these waters is estimated to be close to 45-50 years old due to the cold waters and slow growth.

A view of the main lodge from the dock. It has satelite tv, satelite phone, and wireless internet is available throughout camp. The boats on the main lake are custom fitted 18 1/2', equipped with cushion ride pedistal seats, depth/fish finders, life preservers, and 40 HP Yamaha engines. There are 6 lakes that you can portage to from the main lake. The portage lakes have 16 foot boats on them with 25 HP engines. All of the lakes have excellent Northern Pike, and Walleye fishing, and one of them also has Lake Trout that average 7 - 10 pounds. The owners of the lodge limit the number of guests to a maximum of 18 at a time. The first four days in camp only had 6 guests, and the next four days had 9, including the owner's parents who came up to visit.

An hour and a half flight from Flin-Flon Manitoba on this Turbo Otter brought us to camp.

Home, sweet home. Each cabin has beds with pillows, sheets, blankets, wall to wall carpeting, hot & cold running water, shower, flush toilet, living room with a wood burning stove, a mud room, full size refrigerator so you don't have to run over to the main lodge every time you want a cold beer or soda, ceiling fans in all rooms, electric heat, 24 hr electricity provided by a generator that I never heard, and a great view of the lake from the front porch and living room window. www.flypike.com
