Re: Hitting the Record Silver Salmon Run on Oregon Coast

Just love reading about someone's excellent salmon runs and catch figures like that - 50 in a day's fishing - WOW!

Supposed to be a record run of Sockeye this year for us on the Babine River too. Hope so - we've had good runs for a few years now with raised quotas for the freezer - flyfishing only on the river. Caught and released 31 in 4 hours - 9 wgt. 9.5' single and a 15' 11wgt. double hander! What a blast.

I'd like to get West for the Coho (Silver's) but that isn't going to happen with building a garage now. Oh well, have to wait for the sockeye. Nothing better than BQ'd salmon in the middle of January or Fedruary when the store prices are hitting #30.00 per pound and I've still got 3 or 4 big ones in the freezer. Our early runs have Sockeye up to 11 & 12 pounds live weight. They like nice descent steelhead when someone is carrying one back to his truck.

Up here, we frequently have company while we're fishing. Does this happen in Oregon?
