Photos from some of my winter fishing adventures around my parts. Nothing like fresh fish for supper! Views A friend shows me how to set a tip-up and a 19 inch pickerel takes the bait within seconds Lake Champlain is very big and often desolate looking. It divides Vermont and New York State, on the north end lies Quebec and the St. Lawrence. Way off in the horizon in the above photo are the Adirondak Mountains in New York State. Some of the catch, yellow perch Yes, I caught the biggest! We used jigs with maggots and wax worms and tip ups with live minnows. I am wearing chains on the bottoms of my boots to grip the ice. Fractures in the ice, this day the ice was 18 inches thick, very cold weather, one must bundle up in heavy clothing. We always take hot coffee and chemical heaters for our pockets. It is very difficult to show the perspective on how large the fractures are. Spring is here now and trout season has opened. Hopefully I can show some of those too. Gotta go catch 'em! |
