RODDA & CO. 4-BORE ROTARY-UNDERLEVER DOUBLE HAMMER RIFLE, serial no. 22845, 24 1/8in. black powder only damascus barrels with broad matt rib, silver-inlaid leaf sights for 50, 100 and 150 yards and bead foresight, tubes inlaid in gold gothic script 'R.B. RODDA & CO. MAKERS. BY APPOINTMENT TO H.E. THE VICEROY. & H.R.H. THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH. LONDON & CALCUTTA.', 11-groove rifling (clean), Jones patent rotary-underlever, massive treble grip action with carved percussion fences, non-rebounding back-action locks with bolted hammers (bolts operating on half-cock), best fine acanthus scroll engraving, with the makers name inlaid in gold, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish overall, 14 3/8in. figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, sling swivels, horn pistolgrip-cap and chequered steel buttplate with charge designation 'CHARGE OF POWDER 10 DRS. CURTIS & HARVEY'S NO.6', weight 22lb.
