The rigs were a nice weight. DR weight: 7,1/3-8,1/3lb depend cal. Combo weight: 7lb Scopebase and rings added a bit cause I believe there was more metal there than necessary. A good gunmaker could trim up the base and fit a set of slick conetrol low rings to make it a really smooth and more refined rig. That is what I would have done anyway. Cant tell you how potentially quick it can be to work, not a lot of time to familiarise myself with the thing, But you have to twist, pull, bend, then tilt the barrels up to allow gravity to finish the job the extractors(not ejectors) started. Not my ideal Dg rifle, but would have one in 9.3x74r for busting elk or boar in thicker country no problem. I would also not complain about a light and trim little combo version in 7x57R/20guage. Would make a very pleasing camp gun. In fact, If I was to get a Hoenig it would probably be the lighter combo version, and reserve the 9.3x74r chambering for a proper DG double. I must say,Its all good. When you pick one up, especially the combo that I felt, you do not want to put it down, you could carry the lady all day without any displeasure. I will just finish by saying that walking away without it, felt like a much heavier task. |
