Probably facebooked at the time, but there is a neat photo of six of us holding our .400 Jeffery doubles, taken at the International Dangerous Game Shoot in Darwin last year. Pretty rare to get that many vintage doubles all by the same maker, in the same place at the same time! I'll see if I can find it and post here. ...unless m239 beats me to it! Meanwhile, details of the Jeffery double in my custody these past decades is discussed in this thread: click here. Completed by Charles Leonard in February 1939. Assume Chris Coade has been made aware of that 6-page thread? Something to add: additional cost of 4 quid marked in the ledger against my rifle was likely for the oak & leather case with accessories. Have since learned that engraving of this type (not special order) was usually inclusive in the gun build. |
