Guys, I agree. It is ashame that someone would damage a beautiful double rifle by reboringh it to 45/70. Is someone wanted a 45/70 for hunting, the Marlin lever action would be better than damaging a great Purdey. Now, that being said, there really isn't anything wrong with the 45/70 as a cartridge loaded to the strength of the action. If someone owned this rifle and was hellbent on having it in a Brit cartridge, a 450 3" would be an easy rechambering. However, the water table would then show three cartridges wiich would look fairly stupid on a very nice double rifle. |
