Those are all beautiful guns. And the stocks are all clearly chosen with strong grain to give guns built for a century or two or long service life. The beauty is in the overall form and function of the gun. I do like nice wood, but am not convinced the current fascination with really fancy stockwood adds anything to a fine gun - just a matter of time before a restock is needed. All of these guns look as if they were built to be used, and judging from the patina, they certainly have been. |
