This rifle went for 60,000 GBP or about 83,000 USD which is probably a huge bargain compared to the cost of ordering the rifle new.
The interesting thing is that this rifle was subject to 20% VAT, meaning that a UK or EU purchaser would have been slammed for a further 12,000 GBP plus VAT on the auction house commission. However, a sale to a US buyer would have been 'zero rated' as an export. So, a little gaming opportunity for the Americans.
The same thing was true for the Hartmann & Weiss .500 Schuler, the Brenneke .505 Gibbs, and a couple of the H&H bolt rifles that came into the UK from Sudan.
And the 25% auction house premium!!!!
