I love the rifle. Would make a perfect lighter deer woods rifle. Fantastic as a hog deer rifle. And wonderful for roe, in the days before scopes were common. I can't see it as a highland red deer rifle though. Unless the double rifle is superbly accurate, shooting in a highlands environment, better for a bolt action or a single shot. That's one reason why I wonder what such a double rifle and cartridge choice was really wanted for? For smaller game I think a single shot with open sights makes usually a more accurate choice. Maybe one reason such rifle/cartridge choices are so rare? But maybe a Maharajah in India wanted the perfect chital/axis deer double rifle. |
