Re: unique double rifle from HALGER (Halbe&Gerlich) .280

Igorrock,

I am aware of the Middle European propensity to use double rifles in smaller calibers. I have the equivalent of one myself. It is a combination gun 16/7X75RSE vom Hofe, with a full length insert barrel in caliber 6X52R Bretschneider in the shot barrel, making it virtually a Bergstutzen.

However, it is a Bockwaffe (over and under), which in my opinion is better suited for a flat shooting long range cartridge like the Halger .280.

It is also fitted with a set of double rifle barrels in 9.3X74R, a more appropriate caliber for driven game or hunting in Africa.

Just my (prejudiced) opinion!
