Two comments: (1) IMHO mounting a huge scope like that one on a finely diminsioned double rifle is a crime, as is the pop-up cheek piece used to accomodate to it. I understand the justification that the rifle is to be used shooting Schwarzwild (wild boar) from a Hochsitz under twilight conditions, but to me that is a total perversion of the purpose of a double rifle, which is to provide two quick shots at dangerous game from close range under extreme conditions. It's like putting a trailer hitch on a Ferrari, or hitching Man o' War to a plough. (2) I don't understand how the scope mount works. If it is, as it appears to be, a SEM (claw mount), how can the scope tip far enough forward to disengage, given how far back the front ring is on the bell? |
