Flying to Africa from Australia is usually direct. One could fly via SE Asia but it is out of the way. One of our Scandinavian NE members mentioned the differing rules in Europe. How they were required to remove their bolts and carry them separately on one flight, but after being delayed at the next, were told they couldn't bring the bolts ie firearm parts as hand luggage either (or vice versa) ... real stupidity ... Andreas, Most countries and airlines follow the IATA guidelines which require ammo and firearms to be carried separately. Ammo to be packaged in original boxes or similar. It is commonsense that a scope or bolt is not dangerous and should be no problem to carry in hand luggage. Commonsense is in short supply. If I was carrying a double rifle, I would break it apart in its case, and claim it is dismantled to airline officials. Perhaps our Scandinavian members could comment on what they do. |
