Nordmann, it is there for a reason but you do not know why. I hope no one on this forum will take me for a rascist as I am not but if you talk to anyone in the trade the bolted safety is called a "nigger safety". In the old days the gunbearers were constantly clicking the safety on and off for something to do. The bolted safety stopped them doing so. Dear Mike, I do think it would have been much cheaper and far simpler to supply all those "nigga's" with a Rubiks cube! (FTR, I am not a racist either, and according to Rachel Jeantel who witnessed in the Trey von case, its perfectly acceptable and un-racist to use the word Nigga with an "a" and not "er") I may not be, by any means, an expert on bolted safety's, but common sense tells me that a bolted safety certainly was not fitted as a simple toy to entertain bored nigga's who were looking for something to do. The Bolted safety was "supposedly" designed to prevent accidental disengagement by a careless gun bearer. Perhaps it wasn't fitted as standard but it is a standard "extra" offered by Holland & Holland. |
